Essentials for Engaged Couples

Updated: Nov 25, 2023

Whether you are newly engaged - Congratulations! 🎉- or already in your planning process 🥰 - Congratulations to you as well 🍾, there are a few items that will help you along your journey or that I think are super cute and you can only take advantage of them while being a fiancé/fiancée.

If you are newly engaged and unsure how to start your wedding planning journey, check out one of our previous blogs - You're Engaged, Now What?! for some pointers on what to do first.

Otherwise...let's begin...

As you begin planning your wedding, you're probably thinking about everything you need to buy for your new home together. But where do you start?

You will definitely need to create your wedding registry and Amazon has great benefits when you create a registry with them. Here's a list of essential items for newly engaged couples, from the practical to the fun:

Essentials for Your Kitchen

A good set of pots and pans is essential for any kitchen and basic bakeware like baking sheets and muffin tins. You'll need enough plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware for everyday use and entertaining. Some basic kitchen gadgets that come in handy include an air fryer, toaster, coffee maker, and blender.

Honorable mentions:

Essentials for Bed + Bath

New bedding and towels will make your new home feel cozy and inviting. Create a spa-like experience in your own bathroom with a luxurious rainfall shower head and a towel warmer to keep you relaxed even after you're done. You'll need basic cleaning supplies like a vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, and all-purpose cleaner to keep your new home clean. If you're planning on traveling for your honeymoon or other special occasions, you'll need a good set of luggage.

Don't forget these goodies:

Essentials for The BIG Day

You've got the ring and here are a few things that will help you plan your trip down the aisle.

✨PRO TIP: While on the topic of rings, don't forget to get a cute ring box. Photographers love to use these in the getting-ready photos the morning of your wedding, such as the picture below.

In a case where you don't have a wedding planner, you should also have a simplified Wedding Day Emergency Kit well...because things happen. Here are a couple of clever his or her kits.

We can't forget the fun...or just plain ol' cute things to buy.😉 These can also be great gift ideas your friends or wedding party can buy as engagement party gifts, bridal shower gifts, and/or bachelor/bachelorette party gifts.

Items For Date Night

In addition to the essentials listed above, there are a number of other items that you may want to put on your wedding registry. Here are a few ideas:

  • High-end items that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself: Your wedding registry is a great opportunity to ask for items that you've always wanted but wouldn't normally splurge on, such as a new espresso machine, a stand mixer, or a set of high-quality knives.

  • Items that reflect your interests and hobbies: If you love to cook, ask for new cookbooks or kitchen gadgets. If you're into fitness, ask for new workout gear or a subscription to a fitness class.

  • Items that you'll need for your new home but don't have space for yet: If you're moving into a smaller home, you may not have space for all of your belongings right away. You can add items to your registry that you'll need eventually, such as a patio set, a grill, or a new bed frame.

  • Cash funds: Cash funds are a great way to give guests the flexibility to contribute to your wedding in a way that works for them. You can use the cash to go towards your honeymoon, a down payment on a house, or anything else you need.

With a little planning, you can create a wedding registry that will help you get everything you need and want for your new home and life together.
